Summary
An offshore drilling alert describes a shallow gas blowout after casing cementing and blowout preventer removal. The platform was abandoned and control restored sixteen days later without injury, fire or pollution. The operator suspected cement bridging and hydrostatic pressure loss, and adopted low-water-loss, quick-setting cement and casing reciprocation.
