Rights and Reuse

Safety Library indexes and links to material published by others. It hosts no publisher PDF, document, spreadsheet or other download file, and does not proxy or cache publishers’ files. Copyright in every document remains with its publisher; read and reuse each document under the publisher’s own terms.

Each record stores the document’s title, reference, date, classifications and a short summary. For publishers whose terms permit reproduction (the Open Government Licence, US public domain or explicit permission), the text of each document’s first pages is also stored so that search can find words inside the document. That text is used for search only and is not displayed. This applies to BSEE, CCPS, CHIRP, CSB, DROPS, HSE, IOGP, MAIB, NIOSH, OPRED and OSHA.

Where a publisher requires a login, the record says so and links to the publisher’s public landing page, never to a file behind the login. Only documents a publisher lists publicly are indexed.

Safety Library is a personal project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or acting for any publisher, regulator or employer. Mistakes in titles, dates or classifications are ours, not the publisher’s.

Takedown Requests

If you publish a document listed here and would prefer it not to be indexed, or a record misattributes your work, email hello@safetylibrary.org with the record’s address. We will remove or correct it promptly.

Privacy

• No accounts, cookies, analytics or tracking.
• Search runs entirely in your browser; search terms are not sent to a server.
• The site makes no requests to third-party services. Fonts and scripts are served from safetylibrary.org.
• The theme choice is stored in your browser’s local storage only.
• The hosting provider, Cloudflare, may keep its own operational and security logs.

Summaries and Classifications

Summaries are the publisher’s own where the publisher supplies one; otherwise they are written automatically from the document’s title and text. Most records also have a library abstract, a description written automatically for this index from the document, and that is the summary shown first. Some publisher titles are hard to read (for example, report numbers and timestamps), so those records show a plainer display title; the publisher’s original title stays searchable and is listed under About This Record.

Classifications are assigned against a fixed vocabulary of topics, activities, equipment, controls, sectors and settings, and only assertions that pass an audit are published. They describe what the source discusses and are aids to finding documents, not findings about causes or compliance. Read the publisher’s document for authoritative detail.
