Summary
A lifeboat engine was put into forward gear during lowering. Once afloat, the boat was released from its davit cables and the throttle applied immediately. Propeller thrust ceased within seconds, leaving it adrift. A nearby workboat secured the lifeboat and took its personnel aboard.
