Summary
During BOP retrieval through the splash zone, reduced resistance and rig movement produced a pendulum effect. The riser struck the stored gooseneck ring, which fell onto the flex joint. The BOP was then raised and secured; damage to the storage dogs and their locking mechanism caused downtime.
