Summary
Investigation of a crane wire-rope failure during transfer from EI 251 A platform to a motor vessel. A basket weighing 20,000–25,000 pounds fell onto the vessel, damaging its crane and deck. Findings address corrosion, inadequate maintenance and inspection, and lifting above dynamic capacity. No injuries or pollution were reported.
