Summary
An alert describes a fire and explosion in a semi-submersible MODU’s machinery space. A static spark from a screw-type air compressor’s separator element initiated an internal fire. Burning discharge-line seals allowed the line to separate, releasing an oil/air mixture whose oil spray subsequently ignited.
