Summary
A rental generator fire aboard an offshore vessel was suppressed within twenty minutes. Initial findings described missing terminal protection, a rusted cable retaining bar and possible cable wear leading to a short circuit. With root cause investigation ongoing, lessons addressed routine maintenance, protective covers, nearby extinguishers and secure internal fasteners.
