Fire in engine room on platform supply vessel

Read at IMCAOpens the publisher’s page on imca-int.com

Summary

A platform supply vessel suffered an engine-room fire during preparations for a routine propulsion power test. A broken lubrication pipe fitting released oil mist that ignited near a diesel generator. Fire suppression and crew response limited the fire, but cabling damage disabled propulsion. Corrective actions removed associated pipework and improved detector positioning.
