Summary
A rodent inside a vessel’s emergency switchboard caused a 440V short circuit, sparks and an unpleasant smell. The board was isolated and the dead rat removed. Subsequent searches found no further rodents. Measures included renewed trap bait, rat guards during port stays and increased vigilance when loading provisions or cargo.
