Summary
Investigation of a collision between Red Falcon and Phoenix in Southampton’s Thorn Channel. It examines visual lookout, sun glare, seated bridge positions, radar monitoring and the cruiser owner’s awareness of approaching traffic. Phoenix sustained serious damage without injuries. The ferry operator took watchkeeping improvement measures; MAIB made no recommendations.
