Summary
Synopsis of two engine-room fires aboard the fishing trawler Elegance in 2004. The first involved failed fuel isolation and an unsuccessful attempt to operate fixed carbon dioxide suppression. Following repairs, a second fire preceded flooding, worsening stability, abandonment and sinking despite towing and salvage pumping.
