Summary
This investigation describes a hydraulic-oil fire on production platform K. Compressor and fan-pump vibration caused fatigue and cracking of a nipple, allowing oil onto hot exhaust. The fire was extinguished using about one-third of a 150 lb dry-chemical wheeled unit. The district office made no recommendation to the regional office.
