Summary
An MMS investigation examines a lift boat’s collision with a satellite well in South Marsh Island 236, releasing gas and 2.84 gallons of liquid hydrocarbons. Automatic and remotely operated safety valves stopped further pollution. Investigators attributed the collision to vessel control and field-awareness failures; navigation-light operation and weather contribution remained undetermined.
