Summary
An investigation examines the Discoverer Inspiration drillship’s drift during well abandonment in strong frontal weather. Emergency disconnection released a reported 513 barrels of calcium bromide from the riser. Reduced thruster output remained unexplained; the disconnect system performed as intended, with no injuries or equipment damage. BSEE made no recommendations.
