Summary
A shallow gas blowout occurred while drill pipe was being withdrawn from a platform well. The crew diverted the flow and evacuated across a bridge; the well ceased blowing after approximately 45 minutes. The operator recommends continuous drill-floor supervision, checks before withdrawal, slow pipe movement and frequent hole filling.
