Summary
A drilling near miss occurred when the drill string was raised with BOP pipe rams still closed following an H2S drill. The string parted at the slips, and approximately four feet of broken pipe fell from elevators approximately 15–20 feet above the rotary table, brushing a floor hand’s shoulder without significant injury.
