Summary

An alert describes a 5 pound (2.3kg) shop hammer accidentally kicked from a work basket during preparations to nipple down an annular. It travelled approximately 10 feet (3 metres) down and struck another employee’s hard hat, creating a pinch point with his safety glasses and causing a laceration below his left eyebrow.
