Summary
A crane’s composite end-stop block fell 20 m to deck while the crane was being secured for sea after a Suez Canal transit. Crew were within 4 m; nobody was injured. Investigation found adhesive-only attachment and rust-induced loosening. Fleet-wide actions included crane checks, consideration of engineered solutions and a renewed dropped-object survey.
