Summary
A survey vessel sank after an acoustic transceiver pole fell during lowering, destroying its supporting structure and allowing water into the engine room. Submergence prevented gate-valve closure, and only one of three delivered pumps worked. Coordinated emergency response and rescue-craft evacuation brought all 29 crew safely ashore without injury.
