Summary
An offshore production-platform alert describes a gas-only fire apparently caused by leaking plastic instrument-gas tubing in a LACT shutdown panel. Emergency shutdown operated, and hand extinguishers controlled the fire in approximately 20 minutes. Reported corrective measures included stainless-steel tubing, exhaust modifications, a gas-supply shutdown valve and correction of electrical installations.
