Summary
An electrical wiring defect on a Gulf of Mexico production platform generated an arc that damaged a gas pressure sensing line sharing the cable tray. Leaking fluid ignited without causing injuries. BSEE recommends operators consider inspecting trays, separating non-electrical piping, reviewing installation procedures and ensuring installation competence.
