Summary
Moondance grounded after an electrical blackout while shifting berths at Warrenpoint Harbour. The investigation linked generator overheating to a shut or partially opened cooling-water valve. Propellers defaulted to full astern, while emergency generation failed to start automatically. Inadequate manning, unsupervised preparation and poor bridge–engine-room communication contributed to the casualty and complicated the response.
