Summary
Investigation of a production-platform fire following failure of a high-pressure double wire braided hose downstream of a compressor’s third stage. Escaping gas ignited on hot compressor metal. Operators used dry chemical and fire water, extinguishing the fire in about ten minutes. Harmonic vibration was identified as a possible contributor.
