Summary
An offshore drilling rig fire followed a drawworks chain guard gasket leak onto a hot exhaust manifold. Oil apparently vaporised before igniting in a diesel turbocharger. Extinguished within two minutes, the fire caused minor damage and no injuries. Recommendations address leak inspection at least twice daily and manifold insulation or shielding.
